Troas was mentioned several times in the Bible (Acts 16:8, 11; 20:5; 2Cor. 2:12; 2Tim. 4:13). The site was “closed” when we arrived and it was sad to see so little done by way of excavation. One thing our guide said that made sense. The construction of columns were expensive and they were often “repurposed” in other buildings in other locations. Many were robbed from Troas.
